Our Client, a long established, forward thinking firm of CAs, seeks to recruit an ambitious, client focused Tax Assistant Manager or Tax Senior to join their tax team based in Glasgow. You will have a minimum of 5 years proven tax experience gained from another UK Accountancy firm with a client focused approach, possibly ATT/CTA part or fully qualified - though this is not essential as long as you have proven relevant UK tax experience, with good team working, organisational and IT tax package experience such as IRIS and enjoy mentoring and supervising more junior members in a team.

This most varied role, managing your own portfolio of mixed tax clients with a likely personal tax bias, covers all aspects of compliance and some advisory and project work. You will provide bespoke advice in all areas of tax, helping clients to ensure they are meeting their compliance requirements, covering aspects of taxation for clients, whether on employment tax matters, corporate profits or gains, personal income, gains or wealth. Our client also provides extensive tax planning advice including IHT and succession planning and corporate reconstructions, demergers and acquisitions, share buy backs, MBOs and all related transactions. Corporate clients range from large businesses to smaller owner managed businesses across many sectors including property and construction, retail, hospitality, professional services, medical and veterinary services. Private clients include entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals both UK and Non UK residents and owner/shareholders of their corporate clients, as well as some compliance services for trusts.

Key duties:

  • Personal Tax:
    • Preparing client tax computations and submitting self assessment tax returns.
    • Preparing and submitting CGT returns.
    • Dealing with all client matters and liaising with HMRC on their behalf.
    • Ensuring all compliance requirements and deadlines are met.
    • Managing WIP and Bills for the allocated portfolio.
    • Identify advisory opportunities and work with Director and Partner on complex matters.
    • Review work and support the development of junior colleagues.
