We have a vacancy for a full-time Bakery Co-Leader.


Our bakery produces an extensive range of artisan breads and wholesome goods to supply our busy farm shop and shared households. The team includes adults with learning disabilities. We use predominantly organic ingredients and our products are hand-made using traditional methods. The Bakery Co-Leader will be involved in all aspects of production, while supporting others to learn and develop their skills in the bakery.


Ideally you will have experience of working with adults with additional support needs and an interest in good quality food. Or you could be an experienced baker with the openness to learn about other aspects of this unusual role. We will give training in all aspects of the work.


The Bakery Co-Leader will actively engage in and be responsible for the management and day-to-day operation of the Bakery. You have responsibility for supporting all those working in the Bakery in the fulfilment of their tasks.


Your tasks will include the following:-



  • To be aware of the individual support needs of everyone who is supported to work in the Bakery.

  • To provide suitable work for everyone who works in the Bakery.

  • To be aware of individuals' emotional needs and respond to these as appropriate.

  • To lead and be directly involved in the daily production.

  • To plan, prepare and set up the Bakery for the working day.

  • To ensure the quality of our products

  • Maintaining the hygiene of the workplace

  • To work constructively with those who carry responsibility for practical issues and for matters concerning individuals in the bakery.

  • To take responsibility for and take part in the training, support and supervision of the volunteers you are working with.

  • Upkeep and maintenance of all equipment.


This position requires the successful applicant to undergo PVG clearance with Disclosure Scotland.
