Requirements
What you will be working on / responsible for:
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for LocalStack's SaaS platform engineering function, ensuring our infrastructure is future-ready.
- Partner closely with the CTO, Director of Core Engineering, and Product & Software Engineering leaders to align platform initiatives with LocalStack's wider technical vision.
- Lead the architecture, development, and scalability of our core platform services.
- Help integrate data concerns into platform and product decisions, while empowering the Head of Data to define the data strategy and architecture.
Experience we expect you to bring to the role:
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, microservices architecture, event-based systems, and scalable platform design.
- Proven track record leading software platform teams, building cloud SaaS platforms, and implementing operational best practices.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDK, etc.), and modern DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated success managing teams across multiple complex projects and initiatives.
- (Preferred) Experience building SaaS platforms, ideally in the developer productivity space (e.g., CI/CD, analytics, observability, etc.).
- (Preferred) Experience working in a high-velocity startup/scale-up environment.
- Experience in leading a strong SaaS team and (preferred) Data team (at minimum strong understanding of product telemetry and analytics data), as well as the intersection of both areas (e.g., Data as a product feature, integration of transactional with analytical data).
