2K Shared Development Studios, the worldwide centralized services group, is growing its localization teams. We are seeking a Senior Translator to work on multiple 2K projects. You are as passionate about delivering high-quality translation as about growing translators in their careers. The Sr Translator coordinates, facilitates, and is the bridge between multiple partners, internal and external. This is a great opportunity to join a team of Localization enthusiasts focused on delivering best in class video game localization.

Your role is to convert English text into German using your language skills. Your translations will need to be culturally and linguistically relevant to both projects and target audience while matching the source context/meaning and be aware of any cultural sensitivity, under the supervision of the Production group.

What You Will Do
  • Translate 2K games documents in any given format (.xlsx, .docx, .txt, directly in CMS database: XLOC, in memoQ).
  • Create, maintain, and update style guides and terminology for 2K intellectual properties in German.
  • Advise on aspects of German language and culture.
  • Translate/trans-create all 2K localization material from English to German to a high-quality standard that matches the specific style, tone, and voice.
  • Familiarize yourself with and become the go-to expert on every 2K intellectual property in German.
  • Lead translation teams.
  • Suggest improvements to the translation process to achieve best-in-class translation.
  • Research various sources, including dictionaries, hardware manufacturers’ terminology guides, and internal reference material.
  • Make required cultural changes to the text to fit the target market.
  • Collaborate with a multilingual team of translators and cross-reference issues/goals.
  • Train other members on CAT tool, such as memoQ to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Write documentation (How-To, Tutorials, Guides) for CAT tool to facilitate new translators enrollment and to improve the current translation team’s proficiency with CAT tools.

What You Will Need to Succeed
  • Passionate about video games and localization.
  • German native speaker.
  • English: Fluent speaker.
  • Very good understanding of the source and target language culture.
  • Thorough comprehension of the video game localization process.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Understand 2K’s quality standards and ensure they are always upheld.
  • Ability to adapt to new software and processes.
  • Videogame translation experience: 5 years.
  • Experience in trans-creation, script adaptation, copywriting a must.
  • Excellent writing skills and command of grammar mixed with a good sense of flow/style.
  • Proven knowledge of MS Office products (especially Excel), Google Sheets, memoQ (or other CAT tool) and terminology management.
  • Capable of working quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • A minimum average output of 2,000 to 2,500 words per day will be required.
