We’re looking for a sales professional with a focus on phone-based sales to join our team at LOCALiQ, part of Newsquest Media Group. You’ll be representing the region’s life magazines and offering innovative advertising solutions that help businesses grow and thrive, as part of our Life publications.

This is a consultative, telephone-based sales role where you’ll be speaking directly with business owners and decision-makers across the county. You’ll take the time to understand their goals and recommend tailored advertising strategies from our digital display and print portfolio. Every conversation is a chance to build rapport, solve problems, and deliver solutions that make a real impact.

To be considered for this role, you must be based within commuting distance of the office for a hybrid role in either our Taunton or Exeter offices and available to work Monday to Friday during office hours. A background in selling advertising is advantageous but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and win new business by proactively reaching out to potential clients across your region using cold calling and outbound sales techniques.
  • Work to clear financial targets and KPIs, consistently striving to exceed monthly revenue goals and performance benchmarks.
  • Manage and grow existing client accounts, providing ongoing support, identifying upsell opportunities, and increasing client spend through strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, using a consultative approach to move prospects through the sales cycle.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients by providing expert advice, excellent service, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and campaign delivery for new clients.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and LOCALiQ’s evolving product suite to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Represent LOCALiQ with professionalism and credibility, acting as a trusted ambassador for our regional news brand.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong communication and influencing skills – You’re confident speaking with business owners and decision-makers, able to build rapport quickly and guide conversations toward meaningful outcomes.
  • Experience in outbound calling – You’re comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations, and creating opportunities through proactive outreach.
  • Confident in securing new business over the phone – You know how to ask the right questions, handle objections, and close deals with professionalism and energy.
  • Able to grow and nurture existing client accounts – You understand the value of long‑term relationships and can spot opportunities to add value and increase client spend.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service – You’re committed to providing a seamless, supportive experience for every client, every time.
  • A consultative, client-focused approach to selling – You listen, learn, and tailor your recommendations to meet each client’s unique goals.
  • Proven B2B sales experience (advantageous) – If you’ve sold to businesses before, great, but we also welcome candidates with limited sales exposure who bring a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a genuine drive to succeed.
  • Understanding of multimedia advertising (advantageous) – Familiarity with digital and print advertising is a plus, but not essential—we’ll provide training to get you up to speed.
  • Able to commute to the office – You’re based within reach of the office and happy to be part of a collaborative, hybrid team.
