We are currently recruiting freelance Interpreters from English to Japanese to be part of our growing Teams. The linguist will provide simultaneous and/or consecutive interpreting services, ensuring that:
- Target text and messages are correctly conveyed and reflect the meaning of the source.
- High accuracy and key terminology are maintained, and inconsistencies and incorrect cultural references are spotted and properly addressed.
Requirements:
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Native speaker in one of the languages involved.
- Minimum 2 years’ interpreting experience.
- Excellent command of the English language in both comprehension and writing.
- Linguistic and cultural competences of both source and target language.
- Adaptive to fast-paced work environment with multiple changes of project priorities.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience with simultaneous & consecutive interpreting service.
- Experience with interpretation systems (bidule).
- Experience in translating technical courses would be a plus.
- Availability to either commute or travel to work onsite.
- Ability to ensure the highest level of quality by following all interpreting guidelines.
- Excellent communication, language, and organisational skills.
- Be punctual, reliable, confident, and professional.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and/or Certificate of Higher Education in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, Linguistics or related fields.
- Any qualifications related to interpreting/translation would be welcome but not mandatory.

- Evidence that you are eligible to work in the UK.
- Two references.
