An opportunity has become available for a Breastfeeding Peer Support Co‑ordinator to join the Infant Feeding Team at Calderdale Public Health Early Years Service (0-5). The post holder is responsible for the Breastfeeding Peer support element and volunteering framework within the infant feeding offer, contributing significantly to increasing breastfeeding rates in Calderdale, reducing inequalities and giving children the Best Start in Life. The post holder will work with partners such as Family Hubs and Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust to promote and support breastfeeding.

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and talented team member to co‑ordinate our Calderdale Breastfeeding Peer Support Service. This role is home‑based but will include a minimum of one day a week supporting infant feeding in a front‑facing role. Travel across the Calderdale region is required, so access to personal transport and being a driver is essential. Expenses will be reimbursed. You must have good communication skills, be able to build relationships, confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised, work independently, have good IT skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with and support Breastfeeding Peer Supporters to carry out their role.
  • Manage Breastfeeding Peer Supporter rotas for community breastfeeding groups, hospital, phone support, and the Facebook group.
  • Support delivery of training and inductions for Breastfeeding Peer Supporters.
  • Respond to referrals and signpost from health professionals into the service.
  • Coordinate, collect and collate data from Breastfeeding Peer Supporters and service users in a timely manner, adhering to Locala data protection policies and processes.
