We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced General Practitioner with a Special Interest in Dermatology to join our expanding Community Dermatology Service.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical knowledge and skills to make a positive difference to patients, helping them access timely, high-quality dermatological care within their local community.

You will work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team of GPs with a Special Interest in Dermatology, a dermatology nurse and a Consultant Dermatologist, who provides clinical oversight and advice when required.

Our Community Dermatology Service provides assessment, diagnosis and management of benign skin conditions, inflammatory skin conditions and benign skin lesions. Minor surgical procedures are also available within the clinic.

The service does not manage suspected skin cancers. Patients requiring urgent assessment through the two-week-wait (2WW) pathway are referred to secondary care in line with established clinical pathways.

About the Role

As a GP with a Special Interest in Dermatology, you will play an important role in delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality dermatology consultations in a community setting.

  • Assessing and managing benign skin lesions, undertaking appropriate minor surgical procedures such as excisions, punch biopsies and cryotherapy, in line with your competence and training.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes.
  • Seeking advice and guidance from the Consultant Dermatologist when appropriate.
  • Contributing to clinical governance, case discussions, service development and continuous quality improvement.
  • Supporting a positive patient experience through clear communication, compassionate care and respect for individual needs.

About You

We are looking for a clinician who is committed to delivering safe, effective and inclusive care and who values collaborative working, ongoing learning and professional development.

You will be able to demonstrate sound clinical judgement, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and recognise when further specialist advice or escalation is required.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Full qualification as a General Practitioner, with current GMC registration and a licence to practise.
  • Relevant dermatology experience and training, evidenced through qualifications, professional development or a portfolio of relevant clinical experience.
  • Demonstrable competence in minor skin surgery for benign lesions, appropriate to the requirements of the role.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical information clearly and sensitively.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional accountability and working within your scope of practice.

Desirable Criteria

We would also welcome applications from candidates who have:

  • A Diploma in Dermatology, Practical Dermatology or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Training or experience in dermoscopy.
  • Previous experience working as a GP with a Special Interest in Dermatology or within a community dermatology service.

Why Join Us?

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a growing community service while working alongside experienced colleagues with access to specialist dermatology advice and support.

You will have opportunities to develop your clinical expertise, contribute to service improvement and help provide accessible, high-quality care for patients in the community.
