At Local Loop, we're building a first-of-its-kind fintech platform – a Clearing Club designed to break the cycle of late payments and unlock liquidity for small and medium‐sized businesses. Rooted in the Liverpool City Region, the platform allows SMEs in Merseyside to collaborate without risk, safely sharing invoice data to tackle the 'payment gridlock' problem—the cascading "I can't pay you because I haven't been paid" issue which drags on business finance, causing stress, using up time, and damaging relationships.
Our solution enables businesses to free up working capital, build trusted trading relationships, and improve trading conditions for all, all through a simple, low‐effort app, without waiting on slow or exploitative financial intermediaries. We aim to make Merseyside the most collaborative economy in the UK.
A key requirement to make this happen is an initial cohort of Merseyside businesses, already trading with each other. Achieving a viable 'network density' is crucial. We have developed a network of enthusiastic supporters around Merseyside, across several sectors, all willing to support Local Loop to achieve this critical mass.
The opportunity is enormous, but the challenge is real. It's all there to do; we have an amazing team, support from incredible consultants, recently completed the LYVA Labs Incubator, and Innovate UK Smart grant winners. The 'active wait list' platform is up, the high-level marketing plan is clear but, we need a fired‐up, well‐connected, commercially driven business community builder to take us to the next level.
The person we need will be motivated by the chance to build something genuinely new, which can harness the amazing will to work together in Merseyside to drive real, empowering change in how local businesses manage cash flow and get paid. You have a strong network across the Liverpool City Region business ecosystem, and are passionate about it succeeding.
You enjoy selling good products, and have a successful history in sales as a deal closer and builder of business community. You know how to build and run a modern marketing and sales campaign (CRM, social media, managing a sales team). You understand the pain of late payments and the real‐world cash flow challenges that small businesses face. You are entrepreneurial, proactive, and comfortable operating with autonomy in an early‐stage environment.
You understand how business finance and bookkeeping works and have a knack for explaining it in simple terms. You're motivated by impact, purpose, and the chance to help build something new and necessary. You're excited by tech, but you know that it's people who matter. STEM background preferred.
What You'll Do
- You'll build a community of motivated and excited Local Loop members in Merseyside to achieve critical mass for the commercial launch of the Clearing Club.
- Work with the core team and consultants to develop and deliver on the sales/marketing strategy, and become an expert with the data‐driven lead‐generation machine that Local Loop delivers as members engage.
- Own the end‐to‐end sales journey. Deliver on actionable sales analytics.
- Be or become a visible and trusted presence in the local business community, representing Local Loop and its member businesses.
- Engage with members individually and through focus groups to bring powerful feedback to inform the refinement of the product and marketing.
- Help shape go‐to‐market campaigns, messaging and partnerships.
- Contribute to commercial strategy, including pricing, market segmentation, and partner channels.
Interview process with Local Loop:
- Initial screening conversation – in person or video call with one or both founders.
- Screened candidates will be invited to a longer in‐person session with the founders at our workspace – we will ask lots of questions, and we will expect lots of questions from you.
- Shortlisted candidates will attend a final session with Founders and advisers to present ideas for a powerful sales/marketing campaign and more detailed discussion.
