The predicted salary is between 5900 - 5900 £ per year.

Renumeration is £5900 per year for approximately 19 days. Commission members will also be eligible to claim expenses, according to LGSCO policy, for travel and subsistence costs necessarily incurred on LGSCO business.

The appointment will be for a three-year term with the option of an additional term of up to three years.

Meetings will be held via a hybrid model, via MS Teams and with periodic face-to-face meetings in our Coventry, York or London offices.

As a Commission Member for the Commission for Local Administration in England, you will provide strategic leadership for an organisation that remedies injustice and drives improvement in local public services.

The Commission is the statutory governing body for the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) service in England. We are looking to recruit up to two members to join the Commission, and the Remuneration and Appointments and Audit and Risk Assurance Committees. The successful candidates will commence their role on 1 June 2026.

The Commission's core purpose is to provide strategic leadership to ensure the LGSCO achieves its objectives. This role offers the opportunity to provide external challenge, support, expertise and to share perspectives on key matters such as our strategy, planning, finance, succession planning and risk management.

You will join a small, high calibre team of highly committed Commission Members in providing constructive challenge to the Chair, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team. Your excellent communication skills and commitment to the work of the LGSCO will enable you to build relationships, and be confident to challenge, influence and engage.

With an interest in social justice and a commitment to our objectives, you will bring insight, strategic thinking and valuable external experience to our mix of hybrid and in-person meetings. It provides an opportunity to build your Board level experience with a highly respected independent national body.
