Salary: £21,181 per annum for 22 hour week (pro-rata to £34,660 FTE). We’re looking for a Community Information Officer to join our small friendly team. This role is interesting and varied and offers career opportunities for those wishing to develop knowledge of how the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector can work alongside adult social care to support residents. We offer flexible working and a hybrid model with up to two days a week (pro-rata) in the office or community. All work is guided by our values of collaboration, respect and ambition for residents.

What you’ll do

The role was created following a recent restructure. Connect to Community (C2C) teams are the first point of contact for residents, providing early strength-based support to help residents stay healthy and independent. You will play a key role in shaping practice, building on a strong team culture and delivering a strengths-based, outcomes-focused service. You will work collaboratively with C2C teams to research, share information and community resources and train social care practitioners in how to best use these resources. A key part of your role will be to hold strength-based conversations with staff and residents to develop creative solutions for local people, while maintaining links with community networks to stay up to date on local support and identify trends and gaps in provision. You will be supported by the team: we meet virtually each week and in person once a month. You will also be co-located with a C2C team for up to two days a week, creating a whole network of support. Flexible, part-time and flexible working requests are welcomed.

What we’re looking for

  • The ability to empathise with, and show compassion towards, individuals in need of social care assistance.
  • Experience working with residents with a variety of physical and cognitive needs, demonstrating equal, diverse and inclusive practice.
  • The ability to independently take initiative and plan workload, working within timescales and adapting to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely and respectfully, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled at building relationships across teams and partner organisations, and at working collaboratively within a team.
  • Competence in using IT systems.

Additional context

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation, moving from a two-tier system to two new unitary councils in April 2027. If you are employed by Surrey on 1 April 2027, your role will transfer with current terms and conditions to one of the new organisations.
