Help Shape Hampshire's Future
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of sustainable development in accordance with the Local Transport Plan. The role focuses on determining when travel plans are required as part of new development proposals, as well as the assessment, approval and monitoring of those travel plans once submitted by developers – thereby ensuring that obligations secured through Section 106 legal agreements are implemented effectively and in line with County Council requirements.
What you'll do
- You’ll work closely with our Highways Development Control team to identify whether a travel plan is required when the County Council is consulted on new planning applications.
- Where travel plans are necessary, you’ll assess submissions from developers and consultants to ensure proposals are robust, appropriate and compliant with policy and guidance.
- You’ll be responsible for approving travel plans and overseeing a caseload of development sites, ensuring that developers and housebuilders are meeting the commitments set out in their travel plans.
- The role also involves maintaining accurate records, managing monitoring and approval data, and contributing to continuous improvements in guidance, processes and ways of working through collaboration with other teams across the County Council.
What we're looking for
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage a varied workload, balancing multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
- Confidence working with technical and sometimes complex transport planning information, with the ability to assess data, apply professional judgement and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, able to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both externally and across the County Council.
- A collaborative mindset, precision in handling data, and a proactive approach to problem solving will be key to success in this role.
