The Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) is seeking a skilled professional to serve as Head of Public Regulatory Affairs and Global Engagement (PRAaGE) for the Public Regulatory Affairs and Global Engagement Department. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and taking direction from the Senior Advisor, the Head of PRAaGE will lead the PRAaGE team and support the delivery of the Authority's corporate objectives and key strategic initiatives.
The role is responsible for overseeing in-house design production, advocacy and communications strategy, and the planning and execution of events.
Key Responsibilities:- Leading and delegating responsibilities appropriately and directing and managing key initiatives across the organization and the department's team.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for executive visibility, such as industry events and media engagements, and shaping narratives accordingly.
- Developing, leading, and executing the advocacy communications strategy for BMA sectors and key projects.
- Directing, managing, and executing PRAaGE and/or CEO driven local and international events, including end-to-end planning, stakeholder coordination, logistics, and on-site delivery.
- Accountable for overseeing and safeguarding the BMA brand identity, ensuring consistent application across all communications, events, and external facing materials.
- Drafting and delivering high quality written analysis on insurance supervisory and regulatory frameworks to support the Authority's advocacy positions, executive briefing materials, and key stakeholders.
- Managing multiple deadlines and stakeholder expectations; proactively communicating risks, dependencies and delivery timelines.
- Leveraging strong financial services industry experience—particularly within the insurance sector—to inform advocacy, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
- Conceptualising and producing materials and documents (e.g., collateral, templates, and website content) with a strong focus on design layout and adherence to design principles; ensuring consistency across all outputs and alignment with brand standards.
- Developing and executing communications strategies, KSIs and public information activities in conjunction with senior management and alignment with the Authority's business goals and internal communications objectives.
- Conceptualising, overseeing, writing and guiding team members in formulating educational and communications strategies, company narratives, magazine articles, white papers, speeches, and panel key messaging.
- Responsible for the production oversight of videos and content that aligns with the brand style and content guidelines across all platforms.
- Applying analytical and problem solving skills to translate concepts into executable project plans and deliver outcomes aligned to organisational goals and objectives; initiating, delivering, and closing department initiatives and cross functional support projects.
- Partnering with executive and senior leadership and key stakeholders to develop, articulate, and champion a clear, consistent communications strategy for outward facing regulatory messages across internal and external audiences.
- Planning, coordinating, executing and closing out external and CEO driven events and/or forums.
- Protecting and executing brand identity guidelines with internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing and nurturing third party business/external relationships.
- Managing, responding and interfacing with media queries.
- A master's degree in journalism, marketing, communications or a related field.
- At least twelve (12) years of relevant strategic marketing or communications experience, with a minimum of five (5) years at a senior management level and managing a team.
- Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in the insurance supervisory sector and framework with a financial regulatory body.
- Strong writing and editing skills across a range of content types, such as articles, executive communications, reports, presentations, web content, email campaigns, case studies and thought leadership.
- Hands-on experience in all aspects of in-house production and an understanding of design principles.
- Demonstrated management experience with the ability to operate a team under limited guidance in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with senior management and relevant parties.
- Demonstrated experience in advocacy in the regulatory landscape.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in the development, creation and writing of online content across all digital and social media campaigns and platforms.
- Experience in planning and execution of events, panels, and conferences.
- Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomatic abilities.
- A strong sense of teamwork and the ability to both manage and execute programmes.
- Experience in managing, responding and interfacing with media queries.
- Demonstrated experience in brand management.
- Experience in building and nurturing third party business/external relationships.
