West Sussex Alternative Provision College (WSAPC) is an educational establishment based across the county on eight separate sites and two peripatetic services, providing education and intervention for pupils who are permanently excluded, at risk of exclusion or too ill to attend school. Our ethos is to provide FOCUS (Future, Opportunities:, Curriculum, Us, School) for our pupils to re-engage them in their learning and support re-integration to mainstream provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for curriculum design, quality of education and inclusion across WSAPC
- Drive school improvement through effective monitoring, evaluation and evidence informed practice
- Lead the development of ambitious, accessible curriculum pathways, including vocational and reintegration routes
- Oversee teaching quality, assessment, progress tracking and outcomes across provisions
- Line manage and support Heads of School and curriculum leaders
- Champion inclusive, trauma informed and relational practice
- Use data intelligently to inform strategic decision making and improve outcomes
- Contribute to safeguarding, risk management and statutory compliance
- Work in partnership with schools, FE colleges and external agencies to secure strong alternative provision pathways
- Play a central role in Ofsted inspections, governance reporting and accountability processes
What You Need to Succeed – The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
- Significant senior leadership experience at a strategic level
- A strong track record of improving curriculum quality and pupil outcomes
- In depth knowledge of SEND, SEMH and alternative provision
- Excellent understanding of assessment, progress and data driven improvement
- Proven experience leading and developing staff teams
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- The ability to remain calm, solution focused and resilient in complex settings
- A clear commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
