We also provide councils with the tools and resources to respond to challenges present and emerging, and support improvement across the sector. The Local Government Association (LGA) is undergoing an ambitious transformation programme to ensure we remain a strong, effective and sustainable voice for local government. The Public Health Peer Review and External Support is a major new local authority public health improvement programme led by the LGA, funded by the Department for Health and Social Care, and will start in June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Provide project support to teams across the Programme, including developing plans, running procurements, maintaining milestone progress and reporting on deliverables.
- Monitor allocated budgets and produce accurate outturns and projections to meet programme requirements and in accordance with relevant financial procedures.
- Manage purchase orders, invoices, and related activities for teams in line with procedures, ensuring timely payment and resolution of any issues.
- Organise and support meetings, events, and functions, including venue and supplier liaison, collation of speakers' information and materials.
- Attend events and undertake on‑day logistics such as registration.
- Transcribe outputs from events and collate customer feedback for analysis.
- Support organisation of public health peer reviews, including hotels, travel and expenses.
- Support the scheduled progress reporting requirements in accordance with agreed submission deadlines and dealing with ad‑hoc information requests.
Qualifications
- Current or recent public health experience is essential.
- Right to work in the UK.
Benefits
- LGA annual leave entitlement is 29 days, rising to 31 days after three years’ service and to 33 days after five years’ service, plus all UK public holidays (pro rata for fixed‑term and part‑time contracts).
- Flexible & agile working – office‑based staff are required to work in the LGA’s London office two days per week as a minimum, subject to business need.
