The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national membership body for local authorities. We work on behalf of our member councils to support, promote and improve local government.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced solicitor to join our in-house legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for a solicitor with expertise in Company Law, Governance, Local Government law including standard issues, judicial reviews, housing, planning, licensing, procurement, and commercial contracts. You will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of public and company law matters, including litigation, legislative implementation, and internal corporate matters. You will also support LGA partner organisations or subsidiary companies.

You must be confident managing multiple complex matters concurrently, be collaborative in your approach, possess strong technical and interpersonal skills, and adopt a risk-based and confidential approach to problem-solving.

  6. Articulate communicator, with excellent written and oral skills and an ability to convey complex ideas in plain English.

  7. Flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude and adaptable to changing requirements.

Interview Date: Thursday 04 September 2025, interviews will be in-person at the LGA Offices, 18 Smith Square, London. Candidates who are successful for the interview will be provided presentations two days prior to the interview.
