Job Description: Exam Invigilator (Secondary School) Contract Type: Casual / Fixed-term (Exam season only) Hours: As required during exam periods (typically mornings and afternoons) Overview We at Local Education are seeking seeking reliable, punctual, and attentive individuals to join our exam invigilation team. Exam invigilators play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of external and internal examinations, ensuring fairness, compliance with examination regulations, and providing students with the best possible environment to succeed. At Local Education we strive in provided the best staff we can for schools during the tough exam seasons making sure that our Exam Invigilators are fully prepared for what could happen during their time in schools. Key Responsibilities * Supervise students during examinations in accordance with school and exam board policies. * Ensure the examination room is set up appropriately before the exam begins. * Distribute and collect exam papers and materials. * Give clear instructions to candidates at the start and throughout the exam. * Maintain a quiet and supportive atmosphere during the examination. * Remain vigilant to prevent malpractice or misconduct, reporting any incidents as required. * Provide assistance to students with special arrangements (e.g., readers, scribes) where appropriate. * Collect and secure completed exam scripts, ensuring they are delivered safely to the exams office. * Assist with seating plans, checking candidate identity, and managing late arrivals. Person Specification Essential * Reliable, punctual, and professional. * Ability to remain calm, patient, and authoritative in a busy environment. * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. * Good communication skills with both staff and students. * Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Desirable * Previous experience in an educational environment or as an invigilator. Additional Information * Training will be provided before the exam season begins. * Work is on a flexible, sessional basis, depending on exam timetables. * This role is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
