Local Education is currently supporting an outstanding sixth form college in the recruitment of a Head of Subject for A Level Physics starting in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and ambitious Physics teacher to lead and coordinate a thriving subject area within a successful Chemical and Physical Sciences department. The department currently supports around 600 students overall, with approximately 250 students studying Physics. The wider department includes experienced teaching staff, specialist technicians and a strong enrichment programme supporting students applying to Oxbridge, Russell Group universities and medical schools.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of A Level Physics
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons to Post-16 learners
- Support student achievement, retention and progression
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities
- Potentially undertake a pastoral/personal tutor role
- Support wider departmental collaboration and academic excellence
