The Local Councils Network (LCN) is a cross‑party organisation which represents the diverse interests of our 169 member councils to central government. We also support them through numerous conferences, in‑person or virtual events, written bulletins, networks and lobbying activity. With local government reorganisation currently taking place, the work of LCN – formerly the District Councils’ Network – has never been more important.
The Events and Engagement Co‑ordinator plays a lynchpin role in making all of this happen. It is a great position for someone seeking a local government career with the chosen candidate having significant scope and freedom to develop their capabilities within the role.
The Job
- You will lead on the administration and co‑ordination of events, including identifying venues, managing logistics, overseeing delegate attendance and developing event programmes.
- The job also entails ensuring the smooth running of our regular engagement meetings, providing professional business support to senior LCN figures and helping to build and maintain councillor and officer networks.
- In this role you will be the first point of contact for LCN, providing timely and effective communication with our membership, sponsors and partners.
- You will also assist with the management of LCN’s finances.
The Person
- We’re looking for a well‑organised and highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail.
- You should have had experience of organising events and of administering an office or organisation, showing strong attention to detail to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- You should have a track record of both working collaboratively and by using your own initiative to overcome an array of challenges.
- You should be good at balancing competing priorities.
- You should have excellent oral and written skills and a track record of working collaboratively with a wide range of figures.
- You should have excellent IT skills, including in relation to Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
