At Local Care Direct, we have an exciting opportunity for qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioners in our streaming service at Calderdale Royal Hospital. We are looking for motivated candidates who are fully qualified ACPs in possession of an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice, with independent prescribing qualification. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in an urgent care/primary care setting and have experience of caring for adults and children.

The advanced clinical practitioner will provide assessment and management of minor illnesses and injuries within the ED streaming service. Although the post holder will work autonomously, clinical support is available if required. The advanced clinical practitioner will work collaboratively with colleagues in the emergency department to ensure timely assessment, advice and treatment of patients attending the service.

Hourly Rate: £29.02 in hours & £37.73 out of hours (In Hours = Monday to Friday 08.00 to 18.00 & Out of Hours = Monday to Friday 18.00 to 08.00 and all day Saturday Sunday)

Location: Local Care Direct, Calderdale Royal Hospital, Salterhebble, Halifax, HX3 0PW

Working Pattern: Part-time positions available. Available shifts to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job:

  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will practice, without direct supervision, as an independent primary/urgent care healthcare practitioner within various clinical environments, participating in care of all age ranges and presenting conditions.
  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will undertake assessment, diagnosis, treatment including prescribing if appropriate/referral and discharge of patients with primary/urgent care needs within their clinical competence.
  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide clinical mentorship and leadership to all trainee and peer practitioners within the workplace when required.

Experience:

  • Essential: Evidence of a range of clinical expertise, working independently in a healthcare role. Experience of working in an autonomous practitioner role. Evidence of competence in the clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of adults and paediatrics presenting with undifferentiated diagnosis. Experience of managing minor illness.
  • Desirable: Experience of mentorship, leadership and research in clinical practice. Experience of working in primary/urgent care. Emergency Care.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: One of the following NMC Registered General Nurse OR BSc in Paramedic Science/IHCD Paramedic qualification OR BSc in Physiotherapy OR MPharm AND Advanced Clinical Practitioner MSc/Post Grad Diploma in advanced clinical practice (minimum 1 year post Masters study). Independent Prescribing qualification. Current registration with HCPC, NMC or GPhC.
  • Desirable: Spotting the sick child. Level 7 Minor Injury Qualification. MSc or PGdip in advanced practice (or equivalent (mapped to all outcomes on the Multiprofessional advanced practice framework HEE). HEE digital badge. NHS credentialing via the supported e portfolio route.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Essential: Effective communication skills: verbal, written and non-verbal. Professionally accountable for clinical practice. Knowledge of current clinical and professional issues. Up-to-date knowledge of health agenda and health inequalities (local and national). Innovative approach to practice. Keyboard/PC skills. Awareness of the impact of evidence-based practice.
  • Desirable: Able to develop self and others. Able to work effectively within and contribute to team working. Aware of impact of change on self and service. Experience of change management. Evidence of previous contribution to service change or improvement. Evidence of development of others in previous roles. SystmOne Experience.

Personal:

  • Essential: Flexibility in working hours.
  • Desirable: Flexibility in location of work.

Training:

  • Essential: Evidence of continuing professional development and application to practice in line with own professional regulatory requirements.
  • Desirable: Understanding of training needs in relation to post.
