The Driver will be responsible for loading, delivery, and collection of welfare units to and from the customer site in a timely and professional manner, demonstration (if required) and completing any relevant checks and administration involved for the hire.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Operates vehicle in a safe manner in compliance with all UK regulations and company policies.
- Provides services to customers on assigned route(s) for loading, delivery, and collection of units.
- Provides minor repairs to units on route and at facility.
- Ensure all loads are safe prior to commencing route.
- Complete vehicle checks to ensure vehicle is road worthy.
- Delivers and removes units to/from customers.
- Maintains and updates route sheets.
- Conducts pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs.
- Maintains and updates drivers log sheets.
- Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
- Repairs, cleans, and prepares units for delivery, as needed.
- Maintains a clean vehicle.
- Performs other duties as required such as occasional service driver cover.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of driving legislation, particularly tachograph requirements.
- Ability to read and understand a map.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing).
- General knowledge of mechanics of trucks.
- Aware of Health and Safety.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Excellent people skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.
- Tachograph / Drivers Card essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- Legally eligible to work in the UK.
- Must have at least a valid driver's license with valid Class 1 plus E qualification with Hiab.
- Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
