Job Summary: We are a growing financial services company specialising in loan products, and we are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our day-to-day finance operations. This role will assist with core financial processes including reconciliations, processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting month-end activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider finance team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across our lending and financial activities, contributing to the smooth running of the department.
Responsibilities:
- Nominal Reconciliations β Maintain accurate financial records by reconciling account balances, investigating discrepancies, and posting necessary adjustments.
- Preparation of Financial Reports & Entries β Produce daily reconciliation reports, chargeback reports, and process relevant accounting entries as required.
- Petty Cash Management β Conduct monthly petty cash counts, reconcile receipts to expenditure, and ensure the balance aligns with the approved fund total.
- Bank Reconciliations β Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring the adjusted bank balance agrees to the general ledger.
- Payment Processing β Process daily refunds, compensation payments, and other authorised payouts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Finance Support & Administration β Provide general administrative support to the finance function as required.
- Month-End Support β Assist with month-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Systems & Software β Utilise Sage, Aurum Solutions, Acquired, and Microsoft Office to carry out finance activities efficiently.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (gained through work experience, education, or self-study)
- Strong Excel skills, including use of formulas, spreadsheets and data handling
- Confident IT user with experience in Microsoft Office and navigating finance systems
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
