We're looking for an experienced Business Operations Manager to help shape and strengthen the operational foundations of our growing business.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of compliance, operational excellence and business processes while working directly with our Managing Director.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you'll play a central role in ensuring our operational processes are effective, compliant and scalable.
Working across multiple departments, you'll oversee export compliance, inventory management, quality systems, business policies and operational administration while supporting continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and working across all areas of the business.
We're a close-knit team of around 50 people, meaning you'll have real visibility across the business and the opportunity to make a measurable impact.
You'll be reporting directly to our Managing Director, so you'll have genuine ownership of the operational function and the autonomy to make recommendations, improve processes and implement change across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Export Compliance
- Own and manage the company's Export Compliance Programme.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international export regulations.
- Manage export licences and monitor legislative changes.
- Deliver internal export compliance training.
- Conduct internal compliance audits and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies where required.
- Business Operations
- Own and maintain the company's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning, ensuring documentation is regularly reviewed, tested and updated.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
- Support business continuity planning and operational resilience.
- Coordinate supplier relationships and operational communications.
- Ensure company insurance policies remain current and appropriate.
- Quality & Compliance
- Maintain and improve policies and procedures supporting ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 27001.
- Conduct internal audits and monitor corrective actions.
- Work closely with certification bodies and external auditors.
- Promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Product & Inventory
- Manage stock levels to meet customer demand.
- Monitor inventory costs and purchasing efficiency.
- Ensure products remain available and correctly maintained.
- Work with suppliers to optimise stock availability and cost.
- Internal Operations
- Maintain company policies, operational documentation and internal procedures.
- Ensure business documentation remains accurate, accessible and up to date.
- Support company-wide operational initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate internal communications relating to operational policies and processes.
About You

You're equally comfortable writing policies, leading audits or solving day-to-day operational challenges.

What We Offer
£45,000–£50,000 salary, depending on experience.
Hybrid working , with a preference for at least three days per week in our Portsmouth office.
