This role is built for a driven Commercial Account Executive who thrives on winning new business and growing a portfolio. You'll inherit an existing book from day one, but the real focus is on developing new client relationships, increasing GWP, and expanding the portfolio to £500,000 and beyond. You’ll be trusted to operate in the market, build your own pipeline, and convert opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with your existing clients.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking ownership of an inherited book while prioritising new business growth
- Building and executing a clear plan to grow the portfolio to £500,000 GWP
- Actively prospecting, networking, and generating new commercial opportunities
- Converting leads into long‑term clients through strong relationship building
- Advising clients across commercial lines with a focus on property and real estate risks
- Leading insurer negotiations and placing cover for new and existing clients
- Identifying cross‑sell opportunities and expanding client accounts
- Keeping ahead of market trends, insurer appetite, and opportunities in the sector
- Maintaining accurate records on Acturis and ensuring compliance at all times
- Representing the business professionally in the market with clients and insurer partners
What we’re looking for:
- Proven success in new business development within commercial insurance
- Strong knowledge of property and real estate insurance risks
- Experience growing and developing a book of business
- Confident, self‑motivated, and comfortable working autonomously
- Strong insurer relationships and negotiation skills
- Cert CII qualified or working towards
- Good working knowledge of Acturis and Microsoft Office
- Clear understanding of FCA requirements and compliance standards
