Responsibilities

We are seeking a hardworking, dedicated individual to join our specialist SEN provision, known as Acorns Class. This mixed‑age class, spanning Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2, follows a carefully structured daily timetable tailored to meet the individual needs outlined in pupils’ EHCPs. The timetable includes sensory circuits, speech and language interventions, and occupational therapy programmes. Pupils in Acorns Class have high levels of need, so we are looking for someone who is patient, nurturing, and passionate about SEND. You will work under the direction of the class teacher to deliver 1:1 and small group lessons based on the National Curriculum. Additionally, you will support the class teacher in assessing and reporting on pupils’ progress and attainment outcomes. The successful candidate will be part of a small, supportive team and must demonstrate strong behaviour management, good initiative, and a commitment to helping every child thrive. The role is full-time, working 8:35am‑3:15pm Monday to Friday. The contract will be for 38 weeks, term time. In addition to this role, there is also an opportunity to work in our After School Club, details of which can be discussed at interview.

Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 or above qualification (or equivalent) – in exceptional circumstances, where local circumstances dictate, qualifications may be viewed as desirable

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy

Essential Experience

  • Experience of working with children
  • Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of Administrative work
  • Experience of supporting pupils with Autism
