The information below relates to the SENDCo position at Carr Head Primary School. The children, governors and staff wish to appoint a highly motivated, knowledgeable and enthusiastic SENDCo to join the friendly staff team to support the on-going development of this good school. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the SENDCo qualification. If this isn’t the case, the school will support the post holder to achieve this qualification within 3 years of appointment.
The position of SENDCo is initially non-class based. The successful candidate will drive inclusive provision for children across the primary phase. The post is 0.4fte spread over 2 days but this working pattern is negotiable.
Carr Head Primary School is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children within our care. Applicants for this post will therefore be subject to stringent vetting and induction processes, including a suitable DBS check.

Essential Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree or equivalent
- Evidence of continued professional development in SEND
Desirable Qualifications:
- National Award for SEN coordination (or willingness to complete within the statutory timeframe)
- Postgraduate qualification related to SEND, inclusion, or leadership
Essential Experience:
- Proven and recent experience as a qualified teacher within the primary phase.
- Experience of working with pupils with a range of SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH, cognition and learning needs).
- Experience of contributing to or leading SEND provision and support plans.
- Experience of working in partnership with parents / carers.
- Experience of liaising with external agencies (e.g. Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, CAMHS).
Desirable Experience:
- Experience as a SENDCo or Assistant SENDCo.
- Experience of managing and supporting staff.
- Involvement in EHCP processes and annual reviews.
