Senior Mechanical Project Engineer β Contract β West Wales / Hybrid
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the hydrocarbon and clean energy sectors.
The role requires a Mechanical and Piping discipline background but also strong Project Engineering skills.
Needs a person who is comfortable with both the design and co-ordination aspects of energy projects.
Our client is based in West Wales and can accommodate a hybrid working pattern. This role is deemed to be outside IR35.
- Role & Responsibilities
- Interact with Mechanical Package vendors, ensuring compliance with agreed design standards and requirements.
- Responsible for bid evaluation and negotiation of vendors for Mechanical and Piping packages.
- Also accountable for design specification management throughout the project design phase.
- Participate in relevant meetings such as Design Reviews, Model Reviews and HAZIDs.
- Execute all Piping/Mechanical Engineering activities and maintain technical integrity.
- Develop and contribute to mechanical equipment specification / datasheets to allow purchase of range of equipment.
- Reviewing and approving Piping/Mechanical deliverables such isometrics, GAβs, stress analysis.
- Development of Mechanical Equipment Specification and Datasheets.
- Ensure the quality of Mechanical engineering deliverables.
- Undertake design and checking of deliverables according to discipline and area of expertise.
- Liaising with Clients and managing their needs and expectations.
- Participate in cost and schedule estimates; monitor and report progress using ascribed system.
- Develop technical documents and scope of work packages for projects.
- Key Skills & Knowledge
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered status preferred but not essential.
- Must have proven experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochem, Renewable Energy sectors or similar.
- Experience of working both in a Mechanical design capacity but also in a co-ordination / Project Engineering capacity.
