Overview
Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Level 3 (SEND) at Big Creative Academy. We provide a supportive, developmental environment with a creative approach to education. - Salary: £8 an hour
- Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
- Working Week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9:00 – 17:00 (1 hour lunch); Wednesday and Friday 9:00 – 14:00; Friday 8:30 – 15:30 with 30 minute lunch
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Duration: 18 months
- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard
- Training: Online training supported by a dedicated tutor

Main duties
- To work under the guidance of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator to undertake learning support and care programmes to enable access to learning and independent learning.
- Provide support for students in their studies and support inclusion of pupils in all aspects of Academy life.
- Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to ensure understanding of the curriculum.
- Maintain records of attendance and progress for students with EHCPs.
- Collate and prepare student information for assessments and inspections.

What you’ll do at work
- Work under the direction of the SENCo to deliver tailored support and care programmes, ensuring students can fully engage in learning.
- Encourage independence and inclusion, supporting students across all aspects of Academy life.
- Provide targeted support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to help students build confidence and understanding of the curriculum.
- Monitor attendance, progress and outcomes for students with EHCPs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Prepare and collate information to support assessments, reviews and inspections.
Essential qualifications
- GCSE English (Grade 4 - 9 or equivalent) essential
- GCSE Maths (Grade 4 - 9 or equivalent) essential
Training and qualification
The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification. Each apprentice will have a dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Frequency may vary depending on needs.
