Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Duties

  • Contribute to the overall vision and values of the school.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team for the benefit of pupils in the class.
  • Participate in the school’s induction programme and other learning activities and performance development, as required.
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
  • Be fully aware and understand the duties and responsibilities outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education relating to child protection and safeguarding children and young people.
  • Be fully aware of the principles of safeguarding.
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety, and security of pupils, confidentiality and data protection; report all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Encourage pupils to act independently where appropriate.
  • Support any pupils’ personal care needs.
  • Lunchtime supervision; prepare equipment and resources as directed by the class teacher and assist pupils in their use.
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT and technology, as directed.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification. Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the programme. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential full‑time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Pre‑employment checks: Upon a successful offer of employment, the company completes digitalised right‑to‑work checks and DBS applications via an external provider – ‘Matrix Screening’. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
