The Receptionist/First Aider/Administrator, under the direction of senior staff, will be responsible for providing general administrative support to the school, administering first aid whilst providing a professional reception service.
Apprenticeship Details
- Working hours — Monday to Friday (exact shift TBC), 37 hours per week
- Wage — £8.00 per hour, starting salary £13,263; increases to National Minimum Wage for your age after the first year

Key Responsibilities
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands‑on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. What you’ll do at work:
- Undertake reception duties, acting as the first point of contact for telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries, and promptly pass on messages as required.
- Ensure compliance with the school's safeguarding and security arrangements and procedures.
- Assist with arrangements for visits (e.g. photographers), including hospitality requirements.
- Support pupil welfare by liaising with parents/carers and staff as appropriate.
- Maintain the reception area to a high standard, ensuring displayed information is current and accurate.
- Administer basic first aid and medication as required.
- Liaise with parents/carers regarding student medical issues and first‑aid matters.
- Maintain the contents of medical boxes throughout the school.
- Monitor and maintain first‑aid stock and supplies, cataloguing and distributing items as required.
- Use Arbor to locate students when necessary.
- Provide administrative support, including photocopying, filing, emailing, and the completion of routine forms and bookings.
- Update manual and computerised records and management information systems.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail, including electronic correspondence.
- Manage outgoing post and the distribution of delivered items.
- Arrange the orderly and secure storage of supplies.
- Produce and respond to correspondence using templates (e.g. newsletters).
- Support the printing and preparation of mock examination papers.
- Carry out reprographics tasks as required and ensure adequate stock levels of paper and toner, placing orders for replacements or additional stock in a timely manner.
- Assist with pupil welfare duties and liaise with parents/carers and staff as necessary.
- Assist with arrangements for visits from external organisations and agencies.
- Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the academy.
- Participate in training, learning activities, and performance development opportunities as required.
- Attend and actively participate in relevant meetings as required.
- Comply with all policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting concerns to the appropriate person.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults throughout all duties and responsibilities.
- Undertake an Enhanced DBS check as required for the post.
