About the role
As our Coach you must have a can-do attitude, excellent communications skills, and a nurturing approach to join our team. You will easily engage with young people, support their behaviour, listening skills and encourage a cheerful outlook towards learning.
Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly students with ASD and ADHD would be an advantage, as well as experience working in a PRU and an understanding of restorative and therapeutic practices.
You will develop activities and resources to meet the need of students, consult with the school lead to set targets and report on progress and behaviour. Supporting student resilience, social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing is a key part of this role.
Flexibility is essential for this role as no two days are the same. You will be joining a committed team who want to make a real difference to the lives of young people.
Role and responsibilities
- Deliver high quality engagement sessions incorporating restorative and therapeutic techniques
- Support students through 1:1 guidance and mentoring
- Increase student participation, retention, and progression
- Consult with staff members
- Always supervise students
- Attend staff meetings and training
- Follow policies and procedures
About you
As a LMP Engagement Coach, you will be enthusiastic about young people and education. You will use this post to increase participation and engagement among our young students. The primary aim of this post is to deliver support, mentoring and coaching sessions to registered students who are part of our Alternative Provision. The Engagement Coach will deliver activities including team-building games, building social interaction, critical thinking activities, restorative practice, and therapeutic techniques.
You will play a pivotal role in mentoring and supporting the students\’ needs and aiding retention of students on the course.
Education and Experience
- Coaching/mentoring/teaching/assessing qualification
- Experience with restorative and therapeutic practices
- 3+ years working with 11-16-year-olds
- Experience engaging hard to reach young people.
