The Enterprise Learning Alliance is an innovative school that offers students across all Key Stages an engaging and broad curriculum. The school has educational provision in both the Thanet and Dover District. Working closely with local schools and agencies, the school operates across several sites in the Thanet and Dover area providing individual learning pathways to allow pupils to achieve positive outcomes. The Enterprise Learning Alliance educates pupils between the ages of 11-16 in both full time and respite education. The school has also developed an innovative and successful outreach service for local schools.
Apprenticeship Summary
- Salary: £8.00 an hour
- Working Week: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4pm including a 20 mins break
- Hours: 35.5 hours per week

The Role
To provide learning and pastoral support to Key Stage 3/4 students who are at risk of exclusion and provide assistance to the Tutor in the delivery of an alternative curriculum programme.
Main Duties
- Support the learning of disaffected students, and assist in meeting the educational, social and emotional needs of students.
- Help to manage behaviour in and out of the classroom, with a focus on getting pupils back into lessons.
- Assist in the production of regular educational reports as required by the Tutor, partnership schools and parents, ensuring that all student files, attendance records and other records are up to date and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Assist the Tutor in the development and delivery of an alternative curriculum programme to encourage KS4 students in danger of disengagement; covering such areas as self‑esteem, anger management, peer relationships, behaviour strategies and emotional literacy development.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with KCC’s Equal Opportunities Policy and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Assist in providing a reintegration package to support pupils as they return to the provision following a period of fixed term exclusion.
- Assist in delivering preventative work with vulnerable pupils considered to be at risk of fixed term exclusion.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties which are commensurate with post and grade, as directed by the Line Manage.

Skills and Experience
- Experience of supporting the learning of disaffected Key Stage 4 students with emotional and behavioural difficulties both on‑site and off‑site, including vocational settings and producing appropriate outcomes.
- GCSEs at grades A*–C / 9–4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with schools, parents, young people and other agencies.
- Good levels of Literacy and Numeracy
- Knowledge of appropriate forms of accreditation for students and a commitment to curriculum innovation.
- Knowledge of a range of additional educational needs that may affect the emotional welfare and behaviour of young people.
- Experience of effective team working in Alternative Curriculum settings.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- The ability to travel between provisions in a timely fashion.
Training and Development
As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on‑job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:
- Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Diploma
- On‑job training and mentoring from experienced professionals
- Regular review meetings to track progress and development
You will obtain a Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification at the end of the programme.
