Trafford Alternative Education Provision (TAEP) is offering an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice. TAEP provides personalised support for students who face barriers to accessing mainstream education. Our work is centred around helping young people build confidence, develop key skills, and progress into successful futures. This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting education, has strong communication skills, and is eager to build a professional administrative career within a meaningful and supportive environment.

Apprenticeship Summary

  • Salary: £7.55 per hour
  • Working Week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 08:30–16:00, Wednesday: 08:30–15:00 with a 30 minute break
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Training: Online apprenticeship training supported by skilled tutors
  • Qualification: Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Location: Trafford Alternative Education Provision, Brentwood Avenue, Timperley, Greater Manchester, WA14 1SR

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and reliable Business Administration Apprentice to support the daily operations of our education provision. This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, helping ensure the smooth running of administrative, organisational, and communication tasks across the school. You will work closely with staff, students, parents, and external agencies, gaining the skills and confidence needed to become an effective education administrator. This is an exciting opportunity to learn in a supportive team while contributing to the delivery of vital services for young people.

Main Duties

  • Maintain accurate and confidential pupil records, enrolment information, and attendance data.
  • Manage communication with parents, staff, and external agencies via phone, email, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate meetings, school events, and activities, including preparing materials.
  • Support procurement processes and manage inventories of resources and equipment.
  • Assist with the implementation of school policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to teachers, leadership, and external professionals.
  • Respond to student and parent enquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Support the onboarding and induction of new staff members.
  • Manage digital communication systems, databases, and basic IT queries.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community partners.
  • Carry out additional administrative duties as required by the Executive Headteacher or leadership team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be

  • Able to work well both independently and within a team.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • A professional, friendly, and approachable manner.

Training & Development

As an apprentice, you will benefit from both on-the-job training and formal learning delivered by experienced tutors. Training will include:

  • Study towards the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Regular mentoring and development support from school staff.
  • Opportunities to gain experience across different administrative functions.
  • Ongoing review meetings to monitor your progress and support your growth.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Pre-employment checks: upon a successful offer of employment the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider – 'Matrix Screening'. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
