LMP Action CIC is a community focused organisation delivering programmes for children and young people across London. We work in partnership with schools, youth centres, local authorities and community spaces to provide safe, engaging and inclusive opportunities for young people to learn, develop confidence and enjoy their time outside of school.
Our work includes holiday camps, youth provision, mentoring and targeted support. Across all our programmes we use creativity, sport, food and team based activities as tools to support wellbeing, build positive relationships and help young people develop skills for life. Role Purpose
We are looking for Holiday Youth Workers to support the delivery of our holiday camps for disadvantaged young people aged 8-16. You will work directly with young people to deliver pre planned creative, sports and team building activities, while maintaining a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre planned creative, sports and team building sessions
- Support young people to engage, participate and enjoy activities
- Build positive and appropriate relationships with young people
- Create an environment where young people feel safe, valued and supported
- Manage behaviour in a calm, confident and age appropriate way
- Adapt delivery in the moment to meet the needs of the group
- Respond confidently and appropriately to situations as they arise
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
- Work collaboratively with other staff, volunteers and partners
- Support with set up, pack down and the general running of sessions
About You
Essential Experience and Skills
- Experience working with children and young people aged 8 -16 years, in schools, youth centres or other settings delivering or supporting youth provision
- Confidence delivering or supporting pre planned creative, sports or team building activities
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practice
- Ability to communicate clearly and positively with young people
- Confident, adaptable and quick thinking in a busy environment
- Calm, positive and reliable approach to work
- Ability to work well as part of a team
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on holiday camps
- Experience supporting young people with additional needs
- Relevant youth work, education, sports or creative qualifications
- First Aid training
