An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE Advisor to join a major nearshore civil engineering project within the energy sector. This permanent position will play a key role in supporting the construction phase of a high-profile infrastructure scheme, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained throughout project delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely with project management teams, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture and ensure all site activities are planned and executed safely and in accordance with statutory requirements and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive health, safety and environmental support to project and site management teams.
  • Promote a strong behavioural safety culture across all construction activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and workplace observations to verify compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Review, challenge and support the development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure activities are appropriately planned and controlled.
  • Assist operational teams in preparing safe systems of work and construction methodologies.
  • Ensure method statements accurately reflect site conditions, project risks and construction activities.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the Construction Phase Plan and project HSE management systems.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental controls and ensure compliance with environmental management requirements.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, inspections and performance statistics.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders on HSE matters as required.
  • Support emergency response planning, drills and preparedness activities.
  • Provide guidance on occupational health, wellbeing and welfare arrangements across the project.
Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, marine or energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience reviewing and developing RAMS and supporting operational planning processes.
  • Proven experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels of the organisation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work on a project-based site location.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Membership of IOSH or Chartered.
  • Experience working on nearshore, marine, coastal, heavy civil engineering or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Environmental management qualifications or experience.
  • Knowledge of temporary works, lifting operations, marine construction or geotechnical activities.
