We are looking for a Principal Coastal Engineer to join our clients ever-expanding Ports & Harbours team and lead the delivery of high-profile projects in the UK and overseas. This is a key role for a seasoned professional with a passion for innovative, sustainable solutions in the coastal and marine environment.


The role is designed to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, from coastal defence schemes and harbour developments to climate resilience assessments and offshore infrastructure. As a senior technical specialist, you should be able to provide direction on design and modelling, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure delivery to the highest standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage the design and delivery of coastal and maritime engineering projects
  • Provide technical oversight on feasibility studies, design development, and environmental impact assessments
  • Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to develop strong, lasting relationships
  • Support business development activities, including proposal writing and bids
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to team growth and knowledge sharing


About You:


  • Bachelors or equivalent (or higher) in relevant engineering related field
  • Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent) with extensive experience in coastal and maritime engineering
  • Deep understanding of coastal processes, flood risk, port and harbour design, and marine infrastructure
  • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, complex projects from concept to completion
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify and manage project risks
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills - including work winning attributes
