We are back with another brand new role for one of our long-standing clients. This business is a global marine player who provide specialist geosciences services, built on a mix of technical knowledge and practical experience.
Our client support partners in planning, designing and delivering offshore projects that maximise value while reducing risk – globally. With the continuous growth of renewables, decommissioning and subsea oil & gas projects, the project portfolio for this business continues to expand. The increasing scale of offshore wind farms and the move into deeper waters is driving new approaches and innovation, with Geosciences (and Geotechnical engineering) at the very heart of all of it, and one of our clients many core strengths.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a graduate or early-career geotechnical engineer to join a dynamic and international team. This role offers the chance to get hands-on with a variety of offshore geotechnical projects, with a strong focus on renewable energy. The successful candidate will gain exposure to analysis, site, client side consultancy and detailed design elements, while also contributing to proposals, technical development and business growth. Full training and knowledge-sharing opportunities are championed from day one – and will help the right person develop quickly in their career.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engineering and consultancy projects to agreed quality and budget
Review geotechnical and ground model data, defining design soil parameters
Support technical aspects of site investigation campaigns (including offshore trips)
Assess geohazard risks across offshore developments
Help to develop integrated ground models
Carry out foundation and anchor design for offshore structures such as jack-ups, fixed and floating wind turbines
Undertake advanced numerical modelling using the Finite Element Method (with guidance)
Support geotechnical earthquake engineering assessments
Prepare technical reports and review documentation
Provide advice to colleagues and attend client meetings where needed
Contribute to capability development projects, including updating engineering tools and software
Assist with marketing activities and support across wider business areas when required
Skills and Experience
Civil Engineering degree with a focus on geotechnics
Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical principles
Postgraduate study and/or offshore geotechnical experience (advantageous but not essential)
Working knowledge of engineering analysis tools
Clear and professional report writing and presentation abilities
