We are back with another brand new role for one of our long-standing clients. This business is a global marine player who provides specialist geosciences services, built on a mix of technical knowledge and practical experience. Our client supports partners in planning, designing and delivering offshore projects that maximise value while reducing risk - globally. With the continuous growth of renewables, decommissioning and subsea oil & gas projects, the project portfolio for this business continues to expand. The increasing scale of offshore wind farms and the move into deeper waters is driving new approaches and innovation, with Geosciences (and Geotechnical engineering) at the very heart of all of it, and one of our client's many core strengths.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a graduate or early-career geotechnical engineer to join a dynamic and international team. This role offers the chance to get hands-on with a variety of offshore geotechnical projects, with a strong focus on renewable energy. The successful candidate will gain exposure to analysis, site, client side consultancy and detailed design elements, while also contributing to proposals, technical development and business growth. Full training and knowledge-sharing opportunities are championed from day one - and will help the right person develop quickly in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering and consultancy projects to agreed quality and budget
  • Review geotechnical and ground model data, defining design soil parameters
  • Support technical aspects of site investigation campaigns (including offshore trips)
  • Assess geohazard risks across offshore developments
  • Help to develop integrated ground models
  • Carry out foundation and anchor design for offshore structures such as jack-ups, fixed and floating wind turbines
  • Undertake advanced numerical modelling using the Finite Element Method (with guidance)
  • Support geotechnical earthquake engineering assessments
  • Prepare technical reports and review documentation
  • Provide advice to colleagues and attend client meetings where needed
  • Contribute to capability development projects, including updating engineering tools and software
  • Assist with marketing activities and support across wider business areas when required

Skills and Experience

  • Civil Engineering degree with a focus on geotechnics
  • Solid understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical principles
  • Postgraduate study and/or offshore geotechnical experience (advantageous but not essential)
  • Working knowledge of engineering analysis tools
  • Clear and professional report writing and presentation abilities

What Are Our Client Looking For?

  • A team player who works well with others while keeping wider goals in mind
  • Someone who can explain technical information clearly to colleagues and clients
  • A problem-solver with a methodical approach
  • An organised individual who can prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and budgets
