LMO is a company based in the UK which develops Propulsion Systems for agile small spacecraft across the mission spectrum from Low Earth Orbit to Lunar regimes. Collaborating with major research and industry organisations, LMO is involved in the end-to-end design, development, verification, build, test, and operation of its space hardware products.

LMO UK is currently developing key propulsion technologies and subsystems to offer flexible and smart solutions for the complex future in-orbit servicing market. We work with major industrial partners and on challenging new projects. Programmes at LMO cover a range of applications across all technology readiness levels - from mission studies, new technology prototyping (TRL2-4), all the way up to development and qualification of full systems for space.

The ideal candidate shall be a professional with an established background and relevant experience in project/programme management, customer/partner relationship management, and line management. They will be expected to both take responsibility for the management of the Project Management Office team as required across projects, and at the same time support delivery of existing projects as part of the team.

The Programme & Relationships Manager will be mainly responsible for coordinating the collective projects and resources across LMO’s portfolio to ensure successful delivery and meet business goals. Furthermore, this role involves management of business relationships with customers and partners, from inception at bid/proposal through to successful product delivery.

The Programme & Relationships Manager will be the line manager for the Project Management Office team. As part of these responsibilities, they will help coordinate personnel career development and ensure opportunities are available to mature the team's capabilities as a whole. There will also be an annual departmental budget to manage which will cover aspects such as training and development.

The Programme & Relationships Manager will have the opportunity to bring their unique insight to own, shape, and establish Processes for all Project Management Office activities. Based out of the UK office in Reading, the role will be a hybrid mix of home/office working.

  • Line Management of PMO Team (PMs, Supply Chain, Admin)
  • Management of existing, and development of new, customer relationships
  • Coordination of a multi-project programme of production and engineering development
  • Management & delivery of Bids & Proposals
  • Pan-programme resource capacity forecasting, planning, & deployment
  • Intra-programme prioritisation & conflict management
  • Programme-level risk & opportunity management
  • Programme performance measurement & reporting
  • Supply chain operations & supplier performance management
  • Administration management
  • Ownership of internal project management processes

Requirements:

  • Line management of small PMO teams (≤5 heads)
  • Management of multi-project programmes (~£1m annual contract value)
  • Familiarity with hardware engineering projects/programmes
  • Building of hardware engineering projects/programmes from a clean start
  • Risk & opportunity management for hardware engineering projects/programmes
  • Management of suppliers (external/internal) or subcontractors
  • Flexibility to work with both formal and informal data toolsets
  • 10+ years of experience in project/programme management or other adjacency
  • Familiarity with space-domain projects/programmes
  • Project management certification, e.g. Earned Value management
  • Projects/programmes in production environments
  • Contract management or contract change
  • Non-conformance management

For this role the base salary expectation, depending on experience, is from 70,000 GBP per annum for a 40-hour work week. This includes 25 days annual leave. LMO provides a pension scheme where it matches pension contribution up to 5% of gross salary.
