We are a fast-growing, forward-thinking accountancy practice seeking a highly capable and commercially aware Accounts Manager to join our team. This is a pivotal, client-facing role responsible for managing a large and diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services, and supporting the continued growth of the firm.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, highly organised, and confident managing multiple priorities, with the ability to take ownership, lead a team, and build strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a substantial portfolio of SME clients across a range of sectors
- Act as the primary point of contact, building trusted long-term relationships
- Ensure delivery of a high standard of service across all client engagements
- Prepare and review:
- Year-end statutory accounts
- VAT returns
- Management accounts and financial reporting packs
- Minimum 12 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 and VAT
- Proven experience managing a large client portfolio independently
- Experience in reviewing work and managing/mentoring a team
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
- Proficient in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel
- Proactive and solutions-driven
- Confident dealing with clients at all levels
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Committed to delivering results and continuous improvement
