LM Talent Solutions are recruiting an experienced extrusion operative on behalf of our client, a progressive and growing manufacturing company based in Leeds. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement this is a hands-on role within a fast-paced production environment, where you will play a key part in maintaining performance, quality, and safety standards while supporting ongoing process improvements.
Role Summary
As an extrusion operator, you will be responsible for maintaining daily production, quality, and waste KPIs, while ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, BRC, and ISO standards. You will support the Senior Operator when required and contribute to a flexible, team-oriented environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate blown film extrusion lines to meet daily production targets
- Maintain production checks and sample retention to ensure all products meet specification
- Accurately complete all documentation in line with BRC/ISO requirements
- Perform order changes and basic machine adjustments
- Maintain high standards of product quality and consistency
- Ensure effective shift handovers
- Support machine shutdown activities including cleaning, die strip, and breakdown
- Operate auxiliary equipment including silo blower and resin drier
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, ISO, BRC, and hygiene standards
- Maintain a clean-as-you-go approach and high factory housekeeping standards
- Support audits and ensure all processes meet regulatory requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across production
- Support and mentor other operators where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across shifts and departments
- Demonstrate flexibility to undertake a range of production-related duties
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in extrusion
- Strong understanding of polymers and their impact on processing
- Knowledge of product applications and performance requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable with strong timekeeping and attendance
- Proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
