Joining Lockheed Martin also means helping to shape significant investment in the North East space sector, with more than £100 million proposed to support high-skill jobs, advanced manufacturing and long-term economic growth. Opportunities include potential satellite manufacturing in County Durham and collaboration with NESST – the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre at Northumbria University – helping to build a strong pipeline of talent, learning and innovation.

This is your chance to work on mission-critical technology, develop cutting-edge skills and build a meaningful career, while delivering lasting impact for the region and the nation.

The Security Controller – LM UK Space will act as the principal security point of contact for large-scale build programmes and investments supporting the UK space ecosystem in the North East of England. The role includes establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key programme stakeholders and acting as the liaison between the programme and the wider Lockheed Martin Security organisation. A clear understanding of the operational needs and requirements of the programme team is required, alongside the provision of pragmatic security support and advice to mitigate risks while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

A working knowledge and experience of documentation such as Government Standard 007: Security, JSP 440: The Defence Manual of Security, and other relevant ISN and Defence standards is essential. Experience within a Facility Security Cleared environment is required, along with an understanding of the security measures necessary to protect sensitive and classified information and assets. A strong understanding of National Protective Security Authority construction standards, completion of Operational Requirements, and familiarity with recognised Defence Supply Chain strategy and risk management methodologies is also necessary.

A key objective of the role is to perform all necessary security tasks and provide direction to ensure that facilities are constructed in accordance with agreed security standards and achieve FSC status within the required timeline. This includes working as part of the wider Security team and supporting the development of required documentation, processes, and reporting associated with the facilities.

The role requires the ability to operate effectively within a small, dedicated, and highly professional security team, following direction while also working independently and using initiative with minimal supervision. Strong organisational skills are essential, including the ability to prioritise tasks, respond to changing priorities, and manage workload effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly professional security team, applying existing experience and skills while further developing knowledge and expertise in a dynamic, challenging, and supportive environment.
