The Role: A rare opportunity to work on some of the industry’s most advanced and mission-critical technologies, developing resilient systems designed to operate in the most demanding environments. As a Nuclear Hardening Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges while contributing to technologies that support defence, aerospace, and national security programmes.

You will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability assessments across the full system lifecycle, including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The role involves translating customer and operational requirements into integrated system solutions that balance technical performance, schedule, and cost constraints through functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition, and timeline analysis.

Complexity: Develop innovative solutions to highly complex engineering challenges involving emerging technologies, survivability requirements, and unique system constraints. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead technical activities, contribute to long-term programme objectives, and collaborate closely with senior engineers, customers, and technical authorities.

Impact: Your work will directly influence the delivery of advanced engineering solutions supporting critical national capabilities. You may lead technical projects or workstreams, contribute to major engineering decisions, and develop into a recognised technical authority representing the organisation on high-profile programmes.

Extensive relevant engineering experience, supported by a post-secondary qualification or specialist training in a related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in the nuclear/radiation hardening of electronic equipment is essential. Strong understanding of resilient electronic system design for operation in demanding or mission-critical environments.
