Broom Leys Surgery is seeking a full time experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to join our forward-thinking and supportive practice.

About Us

We are a patient-focused surgery, dedicated to delivering high-quality primary care to our local community. Our team prides itself on creating a collaborative and supportive environment, where innovation and excellent patient care are at the heart of everything we do. We are a supportive and friendly team with a patient focused ethos, our team includes 1 Partner, 4 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Pharmacists, 1 Advanced Care Practitioner, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 Assistant Practitioner, 2 Healthcare assistants and excellent support staff. We are an active member of our local Primary Care Network (PCN) and are dedicated to supporting staff wellbeing. Our Practice has approximately 8,800 patients; we are repeatedly high-quality target achievers (QOF and Enhanced Services) and are paper light.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Operations Manager to join our team to work closely with the Practice Manager and GP Partner. You will take the lead on the day-to-day operational efficiency of the surgery. This is a hands-on management role that requires strong problem-solving, team leadership, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring appointment systems and patient access meet demand.
  • HR & Workforce Management: Line manage the administrative teams and support the clinical team. Oversee staff rotas, recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, and training.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations, UK GDPR, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • IT & Systems Management: Oversee practice clinical systems, and digital telephony, troubleshooting issues and optimising usage.
  • Quality & Patient Experience: Lead patient engagement, oversee the Patient Participation Group (PPG), and assist in managing patient feedback and complaints.

About You

Experience: Minimum 3 years of management experience, ideally as an Operations Manager or Assistant Practice Manager within NHS primary care.

Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, and IT literacy (including proficiency with SystmOne, Abtrace, AccuRx, and MS Office).

Knowledge: Understanding of QOF, PCN funding, and CQC compliance standards.

Attributes: Proactive, organised, and capable of leading cultural change and service improvement.
