The Innovation & Commercial Education team sits at the heart of Lloyd's ambition to be the pre-eminent global Marketplace for risk. This integrated function brings together:
- Lloyd's Lab - Europe's leading insurance innovation hub, delivering structured programmes that help market participants transform emerging risks into commercial opportunities.
- Lloyd's Academy - A global education platform offering in-person and digital learning experiences that build market capability and deepen client understanding of the Lloyd's platform.
The purpose is to lead the strategic development and delivery of Lloyd's Academy as a global business development tool, educating key stakeholders - Risk Managers, Brokers, and Underwriters - on how to place business in the Lloyd's market. The role drives commercial growth by designing high-impact learning experiences that deepen market understanding, unlock new business opportunities, and strengthen Lloyd's position as the pre-eminent global marketplace for risk.
Principle accountabilities:
- Strategic Leadership - Shape and evolve the Academy's global strategy and programmes to support Lloyd's strategic priorities and market development goals. Identify new markets and audiences where education can unlock business opportunities including monetisation of Lloyd's Academy content. Define and implement the go to market strategy for Lloyd's Academy including customer definition and insights, value proposition development and direction for marketing and comms strategy.
- Programme Design & Delivery - Lead the development of the Lloyd's Academy Curriculum to ensure a blended set of learning solutions (virtual, in person, hybrid) that meet audience needs and align with Lloyd's commercial objectives. Oversee operational delivery of Lloyd's Academy programmes and ensure standards, processes, resources and technology are in place for consistent, best-in-class, global delivery. Oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement of learning experiences.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Build relationships with market stakeholders (including syndicates & brokers) and international programme partners including industry bodies, insurance business and academic institutions. Be responsible for community engagement strategy, ensuring our volunteer faculty members and programme alumni realise value from their continued relationship with Lloyd's Academy. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Innovation, Market Development, International) to ensure programme alignment and source subject matter expertise and contributions. Represent Lloyd's Academy externally, including speaking engagements and partner briefings.
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in commercial education, business development, or market engagement.
- Strong understanding of the Lloyd's market and global insurance ecosystem.
- Experience designing and delivering learning programmes for professional audiences.
- Applied knowledge of the educational landscape within insurance highly desirable (including certification, CPD, private training providers, academia and commercial education initiatives).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with a bias for execution and results.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and global delivery models.
- Ability to translate complex insurance concepts into accessible learning formats.
