The role

  • Proactively support the service delivery team contributing to the success of the Marine & Offshore and LR as a whole.
  • Understanding and interpreting UK Offshore legislation.
  • Understanding the principles of risk management and interpreting an offshore installation safety case.
  • Perform independent competent person (ICP) surveys on Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECEs), including both Control and Instrumentation (C&I) and mechanical systems, for fixed and floating offshore installations.
  • Survey materials, equipment, and components (MEC) at the manufacturer's facility, including witnessing the factory acceptance test (FAT) for both verification and certification.
  • Conduct audits of the Duty Holder's assurance process to ensure that SECEs are being adequately maintained.
  • Provide technical assistance, as requested, to Marine & Offshore Surveyors in other operating regions.
  • Control of 'management of change' processes for a variety of clients.
  • Prepare/Review Performance Standards and Written Schemes of Verification.
  • Support opportunities for business in the local area.
  • Provide good control of assigned work, including communicating with clients, financial control, and timely and accurate reporting.
  • Take an active role in all work in the area, proactively managing contracts with a focus on service delivery, retention and developing client relationships.
  • Actively engage in seeking new opportunities to develop and strengthen Energy's position in this area.
  • Work closely with colleagues from other departments and business streams, encouraging collaboration and supporting business interests.
  • Work in accordance with role profile and behavioural competencies for the band and work with the team to ensure that they achieve their behavioural competencies for their band.

What You Bring

  • Be safe in what you do, living and promoting Lloyd's Register's safety culture.
  • Degree-qualified surveyor, however, candidates with other qualifications and relevant industrial experience will be considered.
  • Sufficient knowledge to obtain authorisations to enable survey of electrical and mechanical SECEs.
  • Preferred but not necessary: Experience of verification and/or class, statutory and engineering experience with a working knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to the energy business stream.
  • A proven track record of relevant transferable skills and experience.
  • Strategic thinking recognises how own work contributes to the team's objectives.
  • Change management skills; understands the need for change and can adapt own independent specialist role/team working processes to accommodate such change.
  • Inspirational, motivational Skills, demonstrate self-motivation to achieve own performance objectives.
  • Technically strong, with good communication skills and a willingness to find solutions, the role requires confidence in making decisions, sometimes under pressure, and an understanding of the commercial aspects of the work.
  • Displays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with colleagues in person.
  • Be a self-starter.
