Role Profile
Lloyd’s List Intelligence is seeking to appoint an Editorial Assistant to support the Law Content team, who publish Lloyd’s Law Reports , Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly , Building Law Reports and a number of other titles in the areas of insurance, dispute resolution, finance and construction.
In this role you will be managing the flow of articles from authors to our typesetters, reviewing proofs and checking content for accuracy for a number of publications. You will be responsible for publishing a weekly HTML newsletter and using a Content Management System. You will also be supporting others in the team with their publications, checking proofs and creating schedules. The role will also involve processing invoices for our suppliers, keeping accurate records, undertaking stock checks and other ad-hoc tasks as required. The ideal candidate will be able to work to tight deadlines and prioritise their workload.
This is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Managing Editor for Law Content.
This role is a balanced working model between home and our London (UK) office with excellent services and transport links situated nearby.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for production of monthly publications liaising with external Editors, copyediting, tabling, indexing, managing proofs from typesetting through to finished publication online and in print
- Producing weekly online news alert using a Content Management System
- Prompt processing of invoices, liaising with external authors, accurate recording of monthly spend, responding to payment queries
- Supporting colleagues with proofreading, fact checking, consistency and sense checking of content
- Miscellaneous tasks relating to all titles within the law portfolio e.g. scheduling, stock control
- Supporting other departments with order queries, processing of back issues and maintaining customer data records
Essential
What we are looking for:
- Experience in copyediting or/and proofreading
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Ability to work well within a team and also manage own workload
- Organisation and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable
- Experience of using a Content Management System (HTML knowledge preferred)
- Experience working in a publishing or editorial department
- Proofreading qualification
- A degree in any discipline
