Role Profile
The Data Services Analyst position is an exciting role within the Data Services team at Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the global leaders in geospatial Big Data vessel tracking and analysis of more than 400,000 ships. This role will be part of a team that is responsible for delivering bespoke data sets to customers as well as driving continual enhancements to our data quality to improve our customer experience and support revenue growth.
This position presents an exciting opportunity for a results-driven individual with a strong understanding of complex data structures and database manipulation and willing to learn more about commercial decision-making and gain a deeper understanding of customer-led product development. Maritime knowledge would be a distinct advantage but much more important is a passion for large scale data management, data delivery and a desire to exceed customer expectations.
This is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Data Services Manager. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract covering adoption leave.
This role is a balanced working model between home and in our modern and centrally located UK – London office close to St Paul’s, Blackfriars, and Farringdon with an excellent and a wide variety of services and transport links situated nearby.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure incoming data requests are properly evaluated, prepared, and delivered in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Explore ways to improve our internal data delivery processes, data cleaning and data quality.
- Query complex data structures and manipulate data tables to fit bespoke client requests.
- Work directly with our customers to ensure that defined SLAs are met.
- Engage with sales colleagues on operational requests.
- Collaborate with our data teams to implement efficient and automated quality control processes.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- At least 12 months experience as a data analyst.
- Good understanding of relational databases, Oracle and Postgres experience.
- Demonstrable experience of using SQL and Python to interrogate and extract large data sets.
- A basic understanding of ETL processes.
- Confident and well-presented individual who would be comfortable speaking with clients both in-person, via email and telephone.
- Key attention to detail and strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use own initiative to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Desirable
- Experience using Snowflake.
- Domain knowledge or experience working within the maritime or an adjacent industry.
- Experience working with REST APIs & understanding.
- Practical use of AWS.
- Experience working in a startup or PE/Scale-Up.
- A degree in any discipline (Business related degree preferable).
