Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress. Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.

We’re looking for a Direct Tax Manager to join our Tax team in London. This is your opportunity to support the world’s leading insurance marketplace by providing tax advice and guidance on worldwide tax matters. At Lloyd’s, we take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome. And in this role, you’ll play a key part in helping us do just that.

The role

You’ll work at the centre of our tax function, supporting both the Corporation and the wider Lloyd’s market on direct tax matters. From compliance to advisory, you’ll bring clarity to complex issues. And you’ll help ensure we continue to operate with integrity, efficiency and confidence across global markets.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provision of direct tax technical analysis and input into projects for the Market and other functions within the Corporation.
  • Assist with lobbying of, and liaison with, UK and other tax authorities on behalf of the Market.
  • Management of the compliance process for Members’ income tax returns in specific countries.
  • Investigating legislative changes affecting the Market (with external advisers where necessary) and ensuring these changes are incorporated into tax compliance systems and processes.
  • Responding to queries from the Market.
  • Maintaining accurate tax information on Crystal+.
  • Act as a technical expert on direct tax matters for other departments.
  • Manage tax risk for the Market.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need to tick every box. But you’ll likely have:

  • Strong experience in UK corporation tax compliance and reporting
  • Knowledge of UK and international corporate tax principles e.g. permanent establishment risk, transfer pricing, withholding taxes
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry helpful but not required
  • Exposure to international tax issues
  • The confidence to explain complex tax concepts in a simple way
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to challenge and improve
  • Strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach

And you’ll be someone who enjoys working with others, sharing knowledge and building trust across teams.

Experience

  • Solid grounding in UK and international corporate taxes supported by appropriate tax qualifications or experience
  • Experience in managing tax compliance processes
  • Awareness of other taxes e.g. VAT and premium taxes

Why join us?

Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We bring together the expertise, insight and capital to protect what matters most. Here, you’ll:

  • Work on complex, global challenges
  • Collaborate with leading experts across the market
  • Grow your technical and professional skills
  • Contribute to a more inclusive, resilient marketplace

Because when diverse perspectives come together, better solutions follow. Being inclusive at Lloyd’s is integral to how we work — and how we deliver impact. We aim to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we serve, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and supported to reach their full potential.

We take the risk by challenging traditional thinking and being proactive about inclusion. That means being open and positive about workplace adjustments, prioritising health and wellbeing, and investing in diversity and inclusion training so everyone feels able to contribute and succeed.

We make things happen by turning our commitment into action. Through employee networks, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and sustained investment in professional development, we create an environment where inclusion is experienced day‐to‐day — not just talked about.

We own the outcome by focusing on impact. By bringing together diverse perspectives and the best minds in the industry, we work collaboratively with underwriters and brokers to create innovative, responsive solutions that share risk and solve complex problems across global markets.
