The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Mobile Engineer operating within a structured shift pattern to support our customers across a range of construction, infrastructure and industrial sites. The role offers a varied workload, including servicing, fault finding, breakdown response and installation work across our temporary power fleet. You will work independently in the field, with the support of a wider operational team, ensuring equipment is maintained and returned to service efficiently. This role is well suited to someone with a background in temporary power, plant or a similar mobile engineering role, seeking a position within a well-supported operation.

Shift Pattern

  • 4 on / 4 off rotation
  • 12-hour shifts (Nights)
  • Includes weekends and bank holidays
  • Participation in standby and emergency response where required

The Role

As a Shift Mobile Engineer, you will take responsibility for the service, maintenance, installation and repair of temporary power equipment, including Battery Storage Units (BSUs). You will support critical on-site activities, including planned preventative maintenance, breakdown response, installation and commissioning. The role covers both standalone units and integrated generator–battery systems, ensuring safe, efficient operation aligned to customer requirements and operational standards. You will take ownership of all on-site activity, carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs and performance validation. You will also maintain clear and effective communication with both customers and internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on temporary power equipment and Battery Storage Units (BSUs)
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Attend breakdowns, ensuring equipment is returned to service efficiently
  • Install, commission and decommission temporary power equipment
  • Support generator and battery setups working together on-site
  • Complete service reports and compliance documentation accurately
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Plant, or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Experience working on temporary power equipment, generators, or similar plant
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability (mechanical and electrical)
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile, field-based role
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Flexible approach to shift work, including nights and weekends
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach on-site
